I think a lot about food, nutrition, dieting, weight loss; that much should be apparent with a cursory inspection of my blog. Generally I set up certain rules and try to follow them, and here's my current batch.
  • Lots of water. This is pretty much a universal rule. All of it must be ice water. Distilled, bottled (not from municipal sources like Dasani or Aquafina), or triple-filtered water from my home filter. At least 64 oz of water (8 cups) but more is better. It keeps you hydrated and 64 oz of ice water burns 70 calories while passing through your body.
  • No meat (red or white), fish, eggs, dairy, honey, or anything with any of the following in it. Strictly vegan diet.
  • No more than 600 calories a day.
  • No more than 200 calories at a time. Spread the eating throughout the day, it's best for the metabolism.
  • Think for a while before eating anything so you're sure it's what you want to do.
  • Binging is not okay. Purging is not pretty, but totally okay sometimes.
  • Try to drink a protein shake every day. My protein shake is a combination of Pea Protein Isolate (105 calories, 25 grams protein) and Silk (100 calories, 7 grams protein) for a total of 205 calories and 32 grams protein. I try to drink one every day as breakfast or lunch.
  • Exercise daily. Work-out (at the gym) five days a week. My daily exercise is generally jogging and hiking, while at the gym I focus on the stairmaster and treadmills.
